TICM 130 | Charlie Hoehn | Why "Playing" Is The Ultimate Life Hack

TICM 130 | Charlie Hoehn | Why "Playing" Is The Ultimate Life Hack

Charlie Hoehn is the Head of Thought Leader Media for Book In A Box.

Even though his business is in helping authors launch their books, he is also an accomplished author. His books, Play It Away and Recession-Proof Graduate, offer simple solutions that help people get on with their lives.

Charlie has spoken at the Pentagon, TEDx Santo Domingo and Carnegie Mellon, U.S. military bases, and universities throughout North America.

He is the host of the Author Hour podcast — enlightening conversations about books, with the authors who wrote them.

I have been following Charlie since he was working with Tim Ferriss’ as his Director of Special Projects, whom he helped edit and launch The 4-Hour Body. The book debuted as a bestseller — #1 New York Times, #1 Amazon, #1 Barnes & Noble. Their “Land Rush” marketing campaign sold 15,000 copies in three days. Charlie was the primary point of contact for over 10,000 customers and dozens of sponsors.

TICM 125 | Leo Babauta; The Man Behind Zen Habits | How To Create Life Changing Habits

TICM 125 | Leo Babauta; The Man Behind Zen Habits | How To Create Life Changing Habits

Leo Babauta is a former journalist and creator of the popular Zen Habits blog, author of numerous books and courses on habits, simplicity, and mindfulness.

In 2005, Leo was living on Guam and was a smoker, overweight, sedentary, addicted to junk food, deeply in debt with lots of clutter, a procrastinator, overworked with no time for his wife and kids. In November 2005, he started to turn his life around: he finally quit smoking, then started running, changed his diet, started getting out of debt, decluttering, simplifying and more.

A year later, he had lost 30 lbs. and ran his first marathon, was a vegetarian and on his way to becoming debt-free and a minimalist. He started Zen Habits in January 2007 to share what he was learning about changing his life, and has been writing the blog ever since.
The blog grew to 26,000 readers by the end of 2007 (and now has over a million readers) and was named one of TIME Magazine’s Top 10 blogs for a few years. It’s one of the largest single-author blogs in the world.

This is why I was ecstatic to have Leo come on the show. He is an expert in developing life-changing habits as well as tapping into the power of being present.

TICM 122 | Jordan Harbinger | How To Build Social Capital

Jordan Harbinger is known as an entrepreneur, talk show host and world-renowned social dynamics expert.

He is the co-founder of The Art of Charm, and has helped develop one of the leading self-development programs in the world, with a special expertise in social capital, relationship-building and authentic rapport. He is also the host of The Art of Charm Podcast, where he interviews leading entrepreneurs, celebrities, writers and experts about psychology, performance, life and success. Can you imagine how I felt when he said yes to coming on the show?

For all his work in the field, Forbes named Jordan one of the 50 best relationship-builders in the world, and Inc. Magazine recently called him “the Charlie Rose of Podcasting.”

He is a  former Wall Street attorney who speaks five languages. Not bad right? He has spent several years abroad in Europe and the developing world, including South America, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. He has worked for various governments and NGOs overseas, traveled through war zones, led several trips through North Korea, and been kidnapped—twice. (The only reason he’s still alive and kicking is because of his ability to talk his way into (and out of) just about any situation.)

TICM 121 | The Story Of Diana Goodwin | The Uber Of Swimming Lessons

AquaMobile, an on- demand at-home swim school which is now the largest of its kind in North America. AquaMobile uses cutting edge technology that allows customers to go online, key in their pool address and be matched with a certified instructor who will travel to their home.

My guest was just 19 years old when she started her swim school business,  which she grew with a single $3000 investment that she received from a government grant.

AquaMobile has now grown to 1500 instructors operating across Canada and in 25 states in the U.S, and has been profiled in Forbes, Inc., Huffington Post and Techvibes to name just a few, and had also pitched on CBC’s Dragon’s Den.  Diana has won a number of business awards including Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year, and the $100,000 Small Business Challenge.
